Dukes News · Slow Start Doesn’t Stop Girls

The girls basketball team had to shake some rust off of the long layover from the holiday break. The girls hadn’t played a game since December 2oth and that might have had a factor in a slow start for the Lady Dukes. Trailing 11-4 early in the first the girls looked to their leading scorer, Alexis Lehmkuhl, to stay in the game. Some big three pointers made by Vermilion early in the game kept them competitive with the Lady Dukes. After halftime, defensive adjustments were made and the girls shut down Vermilion offensively. The girls picked up the pace of offense as well, sailing ahead of the Sailors and not slowing down. The girls managed to break away with a 20 plus point lead and finished the game without suspense. The girls will play again Saturday against their biggest test of the season. They will host Keystone at home on Saturday.

Go Lady Dukes!
