Dukes News · Lady Dukes Beat Brooklyn 72-15

The girls basketball team got their first win of the season Saturday December 1st. The girls took a trip out to Brooklyn High School for their first conference game of the season. Coming off of two losses to tough opponents, the Lady Dukes came out aggressive against the Hurricanes. A full court press overwhelmed the ‘Canes and the Lady Dukes sprinted out after the tip to a 28-2 first quarter lead. Great ball pressure lead to steals for the Lady Dukes. Offensively the girls moved the ball well until they found open players for easy buckets. Defensively the Lady Dukes smothered Brooklyn, limiting their opportunities for shots. Scoring for the girls was very well dispersed as starters played limited minutes and other players took advantage of their opportunities. All 10 players dressed for the varsity team scored. 5 players scored in double digits: Alexis Lehmkuhl, Jalen Gibbs, and Amanda Spiekerman all had 12 points while Erin Frenk and Jenna Calfo added 10 points each. The final score was 72-15. The girls continue their undefeated conference streak and start 1-0 this year in the PAC. They will play at home Wednesday against Black River.
