The Wellington Dukes track team won the track meet between Oberlin and Brooklyn on Wednesday. The Dukes had 140 points, Oberlin had 74, and Brooklyn had 38. The varsity track meet at New London tomorrow has been cancelled. The snow is not melting fast enough and the track will not be able to be used.
The three athletes the Dukes track team had in the district finals competed very well last weekend. William Dowdell finished in fifth place in the two mile event, just one position away from moving on to regional competition. Gage Conrad placed in the top 15 for the one mile race. The Lady Dukes athlete of the month is senior Mackenzie Calfo. Mackenzie was active in both soccer and track this year. The boys and girls track team will finish up the season tomorrow at Orrville competing against other division two teams in the North East district. The track team will have one last competition to warm up for the Patriot Athletic Conference Meet held at Oberlin College.
